Public showers in Queenstown

Queenstown is the adrenalin and adventure capital of New Zealand, so there’s no way you’re gonna get through your visit without breaking a sweat—even if its only from watching the bungy jumpers from afar at AJ Hackett.

Whether you’re skiing the Remarkables, hiking the Ben Lomond Track, or exploring the Queenstown Trail by bicycle, one of CamperMate’s many perks is showing you where to find the closest public showers. So, before resorting to a chilly dip in Lake Wakatipu, get the CamperMate app on your phone so you can easily locate nearby public showers in Queenstown.

Frankton: Head a little east of Queenstown to Frankton where you’ll find a free open shower with cold water at the Frankton Recreation Reserve public toilets. Alpine Aqualand is a public swimming pool with hot shower use available for $7.50, or you can stay at Frankton Motor Camp for unlimited hot water.

Glenorchy: One of the most scenic drives in the world along Lake Wakapitu brings you to Glenorchy, where $7 will buy you a seven minute hot shower at Mrs Woolly’s Hot Showers. Kinloch Lodge also offers showers to the public between 8am and 10am and will set you back $10.

Further afield you’ll find swimming pools with shower facilities at Cromwell and Blackmans. And if you can hold off till you reach Wanaka, there’s a free cold shower right on the lake, while $5 buys you a hot shower at the Caltex, and $8 gets you a swim and a shower at the rec centre.

Public showers near Queenstown are hiding everywhere, you just have to know where to look for them. Although on this website we have maps with public showers in Abel Tasman, Coromandel, Northland and Queenstown, you’ll find any map you need in the app. That’s why we’d never travel New Zealand without the CamperMate app—it’s jam-packed with all the helpful info you could possibly need while you’re on the road.
